7-Eleven Denmark is Denmark’s leading convenience retailer with approximately 200 stores and partnerships such as Shell/7-Eleven and DSB/7-Eleven (Denmark’s national train operator). They have chosen Liquid Barcode’s technology to power their app and physical digital paper coupons in store.
Due to the highly varying margins within convenience, 7-Eleven Denmark has opted for a product oriented customer program to have full margin control. In such programs, the stamp cards and Prepaid cards are the primary value drivers for the retailer.
Customers that use the app benefit from a wide range of offers, games and exciting content that engage and reward, in addition to the Loyalty cards and Prepaid cards. Recruiting is primarily done in store,in app using our recruit-a-friend concept or via the most popular mobile payment provider in Denmark, MobilePay. Registration is easy with phone number and PIN SMS. Users that register in the MobilePay app automatically receive Loyalty card stamps at 7-Eleven when paying with the mobile. Further with app switch between the 7-Eleven and MobilePay apps a shop in app implementation has also been made allowing customers to purchase gifts that they send app-to-app to friends and family.
After registration, users enter into an on-boarding program to engage the customers and reward them for starting to use the Loyalty cards and Prepaid cards. The customers reveal their preferences through short surveys in the app and actions in store and are rewarded with personalised content designed to drive activity towards your favourite stamp card.
7-Eleven Denmark has adopted a highly efficient way of running coupon campaigns. Almost all offers in the app are set up as prepare templates and reused. Coupon campaigns can be scheduled many months in advance to reduce operational work load and be segmented to target specific users.
To engage more, 7-Eleven Denmark regularly use game concepts such as Chicken, Hurry and Scratch cards.
The paper coupons in store are stamp cards and prepaid cards on the most popular products. These provide an ultra low barrier loyalty scheme that do not require registration.
7-Eleven’s NCR Retalix POS is integrated towards our system using only existing hardware in store. Stamps and offers, both from app and paper, are registered by scanning unique codes at the POS and stores are compensated when free products or good offers are collected based on reports from Liquid Barcodes and the POS.
With its wide range of content, 7-Eleven Denmark’s app has become the most popular convenience app in Denmark. Liquid Barcodes coupon mechanics have also been key to drive their B2B program, f.ex. special deals for members of DSB’s loyalty program.
